DIA awards recognizes outstanding volunteers for their leadership and support of DIA’s mission and vision to advance the discovery, development, and lifecycle management of safe and effective medical devices.

DIA Award Guidelines
DIA President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement in World Health
This award recognizes the significant, innovative contributions of an individual, group of individuals, or organization to the improvement of global health.
Eligibility/Criteria. Open to all individuals, groups of individuals, and organizations involved in the improvement of global health. Current members of the DIA Board of Directors and organizations they affiliate with are not eligible. Although they need not be DIA members, nominees must:
- Demonstrate an innovative approach that had a significant impact on the advancement of global health
- Possess a reputation for excellence
- Be highly respected by colleagues and the global health community
DIA Excellence in Volunteer Leadership Award
This award recognizes the dedicated, extensive, and outstanding voluntary service of an individual who has served DIA for 10 years or more. Ideal nominees are DIA volunteer leaders whose service has had a lasting positive impact on DIA and its members.
Nominees are individuals who consistently and significantly contribute to DIA as volunteers and volunteer leaders in various DIA roles, including:
- Meetings/workshops
- Communities
- Special committee positions
- Advisory councils
- Editorial boards or authorships
- DIA board membership
Eligibility/Criteria. Open to all DIA members in good standing. Current members of the DIA Board of Directors are not eligible.
Nominees have held DIA membership for an aggregate of 10 years or longer.
Nominees set themselves apart from other members and volunteers not only in their commitment to DIA, but in their demonstrated sustained and substantial leadership in driving the DIA mission and vision. Nominees have maintained a solid reputation among colleagues and are recognized leaders.
DIA Founders’ Service Award
This is DIA’s highest level of recognition and appreciation for volunteerism. This award honors individuals who have contributed to the advancement of DIA’s mission, vision, and values and fostered its growth and development through dedicated and sustained service.
Eligibility/Criteria. Open to all DIA members in good standing. Current members of the DIA Board of Directors are not eligible.
Nominees have contributed in a sustained way to DIA for more than 10 years. They are proven leaders and collaborators. These individuals have a breadth and depth of contributions and a record of significant work in a variety of roles, including as:
- Speaker
- Track chair
- Meeting/workshop chair
- Advisory council member
- Special Interest Area Community (SIAC) member
- Editorial board member
- Training and development provider
DIA Outstanding Service Award
This award recognizes individuals who have contributed to the DIA mission and vision through their consistent volunteer contributions within the past five years.
Eligibility/Criteria. Open to all DIA members in good standing.
Current members of the DIA Board of Directors are not eligible.
Nominees have made documented and consistent contributions to advancing DIA’s mission, vision, and overall goals. Their contributions might include serving as a speaker; session, meeting, or track chair; author; teaching faculty; or Special Interest Area Community/advisory council member.
DIA Community Award
This award recognizes a DIA community that has been instrumental in advancing DIA’s mission, vision, and values and/or has increased an individual or group’s professional development and global networking opportunities. Community nominations should exemplify volunteerism at DIA and reflect leadership of and support for the association.
Eligibility/Criteria. Open to all Special Interest Area Communities (SIACs), SIAC working groups, task forces, and communities focused on special initiatives. Self-nominations are accepted.
One such award is given each year. Nominees should be able to demonstrate the community’s significant contributions to DIA’s mission, vision, and overall goals and/or to the efforts of the community’s constituents to network and develop professionally.
